The University of Crete is organized into Faculties,
which are composed of Departments with related disciplines. The Departments
are the basic academic units of the University, and may be divided into
Divisions representing a more specific area of study. The table below shows

Departments that
have Divisions also have a General Assembly of the Division. The head of the
Departmental General Assembly is the Department President, who is elected by
the permanent faculty members and student and staff representatives.
The course
requirements for the undergraduate degree can be completed in eight semesters
in all of the Departments of the University of Crete, with the exception of
the Department of Medicine in which studies can be completed in 12 semesters.
The Program of Studies of each Department lists the compulsory and elective
courses, prerequisites, and all other important information relating to completion
of the requirements necessary to obtain a degree from that Department.
