KTU Virtual Global Faculty Week 2021

ΑΝΑΚΟΙΝΩΣΗ ΑΠΟ ΤΟ KAUNAS UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY -  ΛΙΘΟΥΑΝΙΑ

"The COVID-19 crisis has accelerated huge changes in higher education and introduced new forms of cooperation. With more or less active student mobility, staff visits have been put on hold for an indefinite time. For the autumn semester and into 2021 virtual mobility might be the only option for most of HEI’s to form and maintain partnerships and reach their goals for internationalization.
Therefore, Kaunas University of Technology kindly invites colleagues from partner universities worldwide to its “Virtual Global Faculty Week 2021” to be held on 22-26 March 2021. The event is open to academic staff working in the fields of engineering, technological, physical, social sciences, and humanities.
We would be happy to welcome you for one week to give online lectures, share experiences with our professors, find areas of cooperation and mutual interests. Besides, we have prepared a brief but comprehensive online programme with cultural presentations, networking events, and workshops that will give the opportunity to gain new knowledge, start discussions and networking as well as help strengthen the existing and create new partnerships with colleagues from all over the world.We understand that physical mobility with all its benefits remains the priority but we will do our best to compensate for the lack of social and cultural interaction and make you feel welcome.

The application deadline is 15 February 2021.

Please do not hesitate to contact us at Αυτή η διεύθυνση ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου προστατεύεται από τους αυτοματισμούς αποστολέων ανεπιθύμητων μηνυμάτων. Erasmus+ KA2 HE - partner search for the MADEinEU Project

Dear Institution,

The Bios Association intends to submit the project proposal by the provisional title MADEinEU: “Mediterranean Awareness DiEt in EUrope as an opportunity for education, employment andsocial cohesion”, for the Key Action 2 Higher Education of the Erasmus Programme, with the deadline on April 23.

The MADEinEU Project would to contribute to the development of individual skills and the transfer of experiences, trough a path of information, training and professional orientation in the agrifood, food and organic and local products, with the aim of facilitating the exchange of knowledge about the Mediterranean diet and the certification of agri-food products (DOP, IGP e STG).

Our association would like to create a partnership with countries that adopt the Mediterranean diet (Italy, Spain and Greece).

The MADEinEU Project was presented the last year and it wasn't approved for some points. For this reason we would like to improve the project with your collaboration.

Attached is the Summary of the Project and the Partner Identification Form of the Bios Association.

If you want to participate, please write by Tuesday 21 April, sending your Partner Identification Form.

We wish all the best during this period of medical emergency.

Best regards

Carmelo Lembo

“Mediterranean Awareness DiEt in EUrope as an opportunity for education, employment and social cohesion” (MADEinEU)

The period we are all living is very difficult and we should make many sacrifices, changing our custom and, in some cases, also our job and business prospects. Moreover, the situation is constantly changing and the choices of governments to deal with the Coronavirus emergency and, above all, what will be the "after" do not always appear clear.

The international crisis due to coronavirus is showing once again how everything is interconnected, from nature to health, from economics to lifestyles.

I know, it is difficult to imagine what the actual economic and social consequences will be in their respective countries and in Europe, as well as in the rest of the world.

In the project we analysed the economic situation, international mobility, higher education and training, trying to understand what the future prospects might be after the emergency, especially for young people residing in EU countries such as Italy, Spain and Greece, far from European standards in the sectors analysed.

Yet, these countries that are on the Mediterranean Sea have a great identity and are rich in history, traditions, tourism and culture, especially in food. Today many countries of the world envy Italy, Spain and Greece for the variety and quality of organic products that revolve around the Mediterranean Diet, recognized by UNESCO as a protected asset and included in the list of oral and intangible heritage of humanity in 2010.

The "MADEinEU" project lasts for 24 months and includes an innovative path of information, training and professional orientation, in the areas of agrifood, food and organic, local and proximity products, which revolve around the Mediterranean Diet and the certification of agri-food products (DOP, IGP and STG).

The partnership of the project consists of the Bios Association, the University of Messina and the its Albatros Agri-Food Foundation (ITA), the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Barcelona and a higher education Istitute (ESP), the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Athens and a higher education Istitute (GRE).

The aims of the project are many:

  • Promoting the modernisation and internationalisation of higher education institutions;
  • Improving the skills of higher education staff and strengthening the quality of distance learning and teaching;
  • Increase young people's opportunities for professional development and staff careers in the agrifood, food and organic, local and proximity sectors;
  • Increase the level of inclusion of disadvantaged and less opportunity-only young people;
  • Increase employment potential and students' career prospects;
  • Strengthening the spirit of initiative and entrepreneurship of students;
  • Improving skills and boosting student employability;
  • Increase digital and language skills.

So, the MADEinEU project, in addition to guaranteeing the teaching staff the acquisition of new training digital methods (i.e. through virtual systems such as MOOCs), represents, on the students side, the possibility of developing greater "digital" professional skills and a spirit of "network" self-entrepreneurship (i.e. focused on real cooperation between countries) and, on the student side, to improve the prospects of employability and careers in the areas of employment and in the areas of biologic, local and proximity food. In addition, actions will be implemented that will help raise awareness of the importance of DOP, PGI, STG products, which are considered fundamental to the Mediterranean's culinary heritage.

Actions are developed once the coronavirus emergency has passed, our lifestyles and working will no longer be the same and we will have to adapt, changing the tools and methods of the services. In fact, education and training, the mobility of individuals and companies that rely on a large number of people (restaurants, shopping centres, etc.) will suffer the consequences of this global crisis
