Study in Crete

The “Study in Crete” study abroad programme offers students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves with the civilization of ancient Greece and ancient Crete, in particular. The programme combines theoretical instruction with field visits to archaeological sites, museums, and cultural centres. Students will delve into the history, archaeology, literature, and philosophy of ancient Greece, gaining valuable knowledge and developing critical thinking skills through lectures, seminars, and research activities.

On-site instruction

All archaeology classes include field trips to archaeological sites and museums within Crete, such as: Knossos, Phaistos-Agia Triada-Kommos, Malia, Gortyn, Eleutherna and the Archaeological Museum of Herakleion. In addition, students are expected to participate in a series of longer field trips around Greece, especially in Athens.

Who may apply

The programme is open to students of all majors who have a general or specific interest in the Humanities, Cultural Studies, and Classical Studies, in particular.
The duration of the programme is one or two academic semesters. Incoming students may attend only the winter programme, the summer programme or the full programme.
