A Journey Begins: Erasmus+ Students arrive at the University of Crete, Rethymno

On 22 September 2025, more than 80 Erasmus+ students from across Europe gathered at the Schools of Philosophy, Social Sciences, and Education at the University of Crete in Rethymno to begin their studies and internships.

The Vice-Rector for Development, International Relations, and Outreach warmly welcomed the new students who had chosen the University of Crete as their academic home. In her speech, she reflected on the ancient Greek word nostos, meaning “return home.” While traditionally used to express the longing for one’s homeland, she suggested that nostos could also symbolize the desire to return to a place of personal growth — such as the University of Crete.

Representatives from the University’s Department of International Relations, the Psychological & Counseling Support Center, and various student groups — including ESN UoC, the Debate Team, the Psychoram (cinema) Team, and the “I Care & I Act” volunteer group — offered valuable advice and practical insights into daily life in Rethymno, helping students feel welcomed, supported, and ready to begin their journey.

Have a nice journey dear Students!!
