The University of Crete honors the International Day of Women and Girls in Science

The University of Crete Research Center for the Humanities, the Social and Education Sciences (UCRC), in collaboration with the Institute of Plasma Physics and Lasers of the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU), is organizing an event entitled “Women in Science: From Knowledge to Advocacy”.

Date: Wednesday, February 11, 2026
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: Center for Youth & Lifelong Learning, Rethymno

The event is held in the context of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science and includes talks by academics on:

• The role of Gender Equality Committees
• Gender Studies in Greece
• Women’s participation in research and higher education

This initiative is part of the European project “Science Odyssey”, under the auspices of the Education Department of the Municipality of Rethymno.
