International Women’s Day | University of Crete

Announcement from the Rectorate of the University of Crete on International Women’s Day

The University of Crete recognizes the contribution of women in all aspects of academic life and honors women as researchers, faculty members, students, and as members of the Rectorate and the University’s administration.

We support and promote gender equality and the participation of women in research, innovation, and decision-making, with the overarching goal of ensuring a university environment built on mutual respect, equality, and inclusion.

International Women’s Day offers opportunities for reflection and action so that equality and equal opportunities can become an everyday reality for all.

On the occasion of this day, the three Vice Rectors of the University of Crete:

🔹 Professor Maria Vamvakaki, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Lifelong Learning, and Research Policy

🔹 Professor Sofia Schiza, Vice Rector for Administrative Affairs and Student Welfare

🔹 Professor Melina Tamiolaki, Vice Rector for Development, International Relations, and Outreach

share their messages, highlighting the role of women through the lens of research, student support, administration, and international engagement.
