This year, the University of Crete, through its Equal Access Unit, actively participates in this celebration, sending a strong message of acceptance, respect, and meaningful inclusion.

Why do we wear mismatched socks?
It is a simple yet deeply symbolic gesture. The colorful, asymmetrical patterns of our socks resemble chromosomes, but more importantly, they remind us that diversity is what makes our world richer, warmer, and more authentic. We are not all the same…and that is our strength.

Our Commitment
The Equal Access Unit of the University of Crete goes beyond symbolic action on this day. We work every day to ensure that our academic community is a space where every individual, regardless of ability, has equal opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute. We firmly believe that every person with Down syndrome has a voice, rights, and the right to full participation in both social and academic life.
