The University of Crete is delighted to host this year in Rethymno, from February 5th to February 9th, the significant institution “10 Days of INGENIUM”. Postgraduate students, doctoral candidates, researchers, and staff from the 10 universities of the alliance will participate in events and meetings that promote the activities of INGENIUM and foster future collaborations among all the Institutions. The University of Crete will organize within the framework of the “10 Days of INGENIUM” the first INGENIUM Winter Senior School on the theme: “The Carob Challenge: A Paradigm of Sustainable Development and Innovation” where participants will approach interdisciplinarily the Carob as a case study of sustainability, and participants will holistically get to know this unique Mediterranean product:

• The carob through history and its cultural landscape
• Biochemical structure of the carob [Genome/metabolites]
• Bio-active properties of the carob
• Value chain of the carob and vulnerability
• Resilience and social sustainability
• Innovation and production

Additionally, the Staff Academy Workshops will be hosted, where representatives of the 10 partners will present methods of good practice and innovative pedagogical methods in tertiary education, and closed meetings of the members participating in the work packages WP2-WP4 of INGENIUM.
