11th Panhellenic Conference of the Association of Researchers in Mathematics Education at the University of Crete
The 11th Panhellenic Conference of the Association of Researchers in Mathematics Education begins on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., in the Nikos Petridis Auditorium, Voutes Campus, University of Crete.
The Conference is organized by the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics of the University of Crete and will take place on the Department’s premises from March 27 to March 29, 2026. The conference will host more than 130 researchers, educators, and undergraduate and graduate students from Greece, Cyprus, and other countries.
The central theme of the conference is: Advancing Mathematics Teaching and Critical Thinking.
The conference aims to explore how mathematics teaching evolves within instructional practice. At the same time, it seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of the concept of critical thinking in mathematics, highlight its importance, and examine how it is reflected in learning objectives, content, and teaching practices.
Keynote lectures will be delivered by Professor Eva Jablonka of Freie Universität Berlin and Professor Despina Potari of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. A roundtable discussion will also take place, moderated by Professor Triantafyllos Triantafyllidis of the University of Thessaly, on the topic: Inquiry-Based Learning and Mathematical Modeling in the New Curricula.
More than 80 research papers, innovative teaching proposals, and additional academic activities will be presented.
