The Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) on Cognitive Disorders, organized by the UoC Medical School, kicked off its physical component on May 5, 2025, at Voutes University Campus (Heraklion).

This innovative Erasmus+ initiative brings together students and academic staff from five leading European institutions: the University of Crete (Greece), University of Coimbra (Portugal), University of Valencia (Spain), Medical University of Sofia (Bulgaria), and Acibadem University (Turkey).

The opening day featured engaging lectures on the most common types of dementia, neuropsychological assessment, and the crucial role of primary healthcare in cognitive disorders. Participants were warmly welcomed by the organizing team and enjoyed a traditional Cretan dinner in the heart of Heraklion, celebrating the start of a dynamic week of academic and cultural exchange.

Throughout the programme, students and faculty will take part in a rich schedule of lectures, site visits to specialized healthcare units, and presentations of cutting-edge research. The BIP fosters international collaboration, promotes knowledge exchange, and strengthens interdisciplinary approaches to mental health education and practice across Europe.

This BIP is part of the University of Crete’s ongoing commitment to advancing excellence in education and enhancing mobility opportunities through the Erasmus+ programme.
