**Faculty of Philosophy | Department of Philology | TOTh (Terminology & Ontology: Theories & Applications) 2024**
The **TOTh 2024 conference** was completed last week at the University of Savoie (Chambéry, France) and online. The TOTh (Terminology & Ontology: Theories & Applications) community is an interdisciplinary forum for the study of ontology, terminology, and their relationship with fields such as translation, lexicography, knowledge representation, computer science, and digital humanities. The conference has been held at the University of Savoie since 2007. From 2023, it is organized by the University of Crete (Department of Philology). The official languages of the conference are English and French. The conference is preceded by a two-day practical training session.
* **- training session (4 & 5 June 2024)** “Terminology & Artificial Intelligence I. Ontology & Knowledge Graph (Hands-on work with Protégé & SPARQL)”: Two days of intensive practical training under the guidance of Christophe Roche (University of Crete), Silvia Piccini (Italian National Research Council – CNR), and Maria Papadopoulou (University of Crete).
* **- conference (6 & 7 June 2024):** Two days filled with presentations and discussions, a keynote speech titled “An overview of automatic term extraction” (Antoine Doucet, University of La Rochelle), 16 papers and 6 posters, including a contribution from the top student of the Department of Philology at the University of Crete, Rafail Giannadakis (“Ontologies for Digital Humanities: An example of utilization in the research and study of Classics”).
* – Total registered participants: 89
   * –   practical training: 27 online & 7 on-site
   * –   conference: 27 on-site & 30 online (on average)
   * –   22 countries were represented
