Brief Biography of the Honoree:
Dimitrios Christodoulou was born in Athens in 1951. He studied physics at Princeton University and received his doctorate in 1971. He then turned to mathemaDcs and became a Professor of MathemaDcs, first (1985-1987) at Syracuse University in New York, then (1988-1992) at the Courant InsDtute of New York University, and from 1992-2001 at Princeton University, a posiDon he held unDl his move to the Polytechnic of Zurich in 2001. There, he served as a Professor of MathemaDcs and Physics unDl 2017, and since then he has been an Emeritus Professor.
He has been honored with the MacArthur Award in MathemaDcs and Physics (1993), the Bocher Prize of the American MathemaDcal Society (1999), the Shaw Prize in MathemaDcal Sciences (2011), and the Henri Poincaré Prize of the InternaDonal Union of MathemaDcal Physics (2021). He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the NaDonal Academy of Sciences of the USA, and the Academia Europaea.
