International Summer School “Nature and Culture in Crete, from Antiquity to the Present»
International Summer School of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Crete, entitled: “Nature and Culture in Crete, from Antiquity to Today».
The School of Philosophy of the University of Crete announces the upcoming hosting of a specialized international summer school titled “Nature and Culture in Crete, from Antiquity to Today”. This program, designed exclusively for a selected group of undergraduate and postgraduate Chinese students through the Center of Greek and Chinese Civilizations (KELKIP), offers a unique educational experience that delves into Crete΄s rich history and culture.
The summer school will take place in Rethymno and Heraklio from July 10 to 23, 2024 and July 18 to 31, 2024. The event is organized in cooperation with the KELKIP, the Institute of Mediterranean Studies (IMS), the University of Crete Research Centre for the Humanities, the Social and Education Sciences (UCRC) and the University of Southwest China.
The program will include:
– Lectures and Seminars: Throughout the event, attendees will have the chance to hear from esteemed academics and experts from the University of Crete as well as other prominent academic institutions, as they explore the historical and cultural facets of Crete.
– Cultural Excursions: Students will experience the historical narratives of Crete from antiquity to the present and learn about traditional pottery and beekeeping techniques through guided visits renowned archaeological sites and museums.
– Participation Restrictions: Only pre-selected students from Chinese universities are allowed to participate in this program, which fosters a focused and rich learning environment that improves academic performance.
The project is a component of a larger collaboration that aims to improve intellectual and cultural exchanges between Greece and China, with a focus on the analysis of historical civilizations and their relevance today.
