International Symposium: “Raising Twin Children: Past, Present & Future”
The International Scientific Symposium titled “Raising Twin Children: Past, Present & Future” will take place on May 23–24, 2025, at Gallos University Campus in Rethymnon. The Symposium is organized by the Developmental Psychology Unit of the Psychological Research Laboratory of the Department of Preschool Education, University of Crete, with the support of the Region of Crete.
The Symposium brings to the forefront a topic that remains scientifically unexplored in Greece, despite the continuously increasing birth rates of twins, largely due to advances in assisted reproduction methods. Through the presentation of empirical research from Greece and abroad, the aim is to highlight the developmental, emotional, and social specificities of twins, as well as to deconstruct stereotypes that continue to influence how twin children are perceived and treated by families, schools, and society.
The Symposium also aims to strengthen scientific knowledge and develop good support practices for parents, educators, and healthcare professionals.
