The University of Crete Leads European Teachers’ Academy for AI Literacy

We are proud to announce that the University of Crete (members of TALOS Lab) will coordinate the European project Teachers’ Academy for AI Literacy, funded with €1.5 million under ERASMUS-EDU-2025-PEX-TEACH-ACA.

This initiative brings together a strong consortium of 14 partners from 7 European countries – universities, teacher education institutions, schools, and research centers – united by a shared vision: to empower teachers across Europe with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate Artificial Intelligence in education.

The project aims to establish a sustainable and innovative Academy that will offer specialized professional development programs for teachers, focusing not only on the technical aspects of AI but also on its humanistic, ethical, and social dimensions. In this way, teachers will become critical evaluators, responsible users, and effective facilitators of AI technologies in their classrooms. By building a transnational collaboration network and designing cutting-edge training curricula, the Academy aspires to contribute to national strategies for the digital transformation of education, ensuring that AI is used critically, ethically, and inclusively – bridging digital divides and promoting social equity.
