among the top 500 universities listed in the influential 2023
Times Higher Education (THE) World
University Rankings, published on 12 October 2022, despite the
ever-increasing number of research-intensive universities being ranked annually
(1799 compared with 1662 last year.) University
of Crete is first
among Greek universities. It is ranked in the 401-500 bracket with the National
& Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
