2nd Semantic Annotation for the Ancient World (SA4AW) Conference

The TALOS Centre is pleased to announce that the full program for the 2nd Semantic Annotation for the Ancient World (SA4AW) Conference is now available.

The conference will take place on May 7–8, 2026, in hybrid format: online via Zoom and onsite at the Student and Cultural Center “Xenia” in Rethymno

The event explores the intersection of semantic annotation, hybrid AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and knowledge graphs in the study of antiquity and cultural heritage.

We are delighted to welcome our two keynote speakers:
– Annie Lamar (UC Santa Barbara, USA) on “Low-Resource Languages and Epistemic Justice”
– Terhi Nurmikko-Fuller (RMIT University, Australia)  on “Oh LAWD, oh LAWD, oh LAWD: Reflections on Linked Ancient World Data projects”

The program includes presentations on corpus linguistics, annotation workflows, multimodal AI, material culture, semantic modelling, and human-in-the-loop annotation.

Attendance is free and open to all. Researchers, students, and anyone interested in Digital Humanities are warmly invited to participate.

Registration via Zoom is required to receive the meeting link.
