In a coordinated initiative at both national and European level, the University of Crete, together with the 16 Greek European University Alliances and INGENIUM, joined universities and higher education organisations across Europe in calling on the European Parliament to protect funding for higher education and research within the future European Competitiveness Fund.

This joint initiative highlighted the important role of European University Alliances in strengthening cooperation in education, research, innovation and student mobility across Europe. Reducing support for these initiatives could weaken collaboration between universities and limit opportunities for students and researchers.

INGENIUM and its partners are calling on the EU to continue investing strongly in programmes such as Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe, which support universities, research excellence and international cooperation.

European University Alliances play a key role in promoting innovation, skills development and Europe’s future competitiveness, and this role must continue to be supported in the years ahead.
