On 16 June 2026, representatives of the ten partner institutions of the INGENIUM European University Alliance gathered at the University of Rouen Normandy, France, during the institution’s 60th anniversary celebrations, to review the achievements of the alliance’s first funding phase and define its future strategic direction.
The University of Crete was represented by Professor Maria Vamvakaki, Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs, Lifelong Learning, and Research Policy, who participated in the Alliance Council meeting.
The Council highlighted several major achievements from the past academic year, including:
🔹 The first accreditation of an INGENIUM joint Master’s programme under the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes.
🔹 Continued development of additional joint Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programmes.
🔹 The introduction of up to 14 micro-credentials across the alliance.
🔹 The expansion of Pathway Programmes and Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), creating new opportunities for international learning and mobility.
A key focus of the meeting was ensuring the long-term sustainability of the alliance beyond individual European funding cycles. Partners reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining collaborative education, mobility, and innovation initiatives while advancing toward the European Degree framework.
The Council also reviewed progress toward establishing a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC), which will provide INGENIUM with a permanent legal structure and strengthen its long-term role within the European Higher Education Area.
The meeting underscored the alliance’s shared vision of fostering deeper cooperation among universities and creating innovative educational opportunities that prepare students and researchers to address global challenges together.
