The University of Crete actively participated in the seventh and final edition of “10 Days of INGENIUM,” the largest joint initiative of the INGENIUM European University alliance. The event took place from May 25 to 29 at Munster Technological University in Cork, Ireland, and from June 1 to 5 at the Medical University of Sofia, Bulgaria.
Bringing together students, academic staff, and administrative personnel from all partner universities, the “10 Days of INGENIUM” event provides a unique platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, the development of new ideas, and the strengthening of ties among members of the European higher education community.
Senior Summer School: Enabling Research for Impact
In Cork, Ireland, master’s students, doctoral candidates, academics, and industry professionals came together to explore how research can be translated into meaningful social, environmental, and economic impact. Through workshops, interactive sessions, and collaborative activities, participants examined approaches to sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship, emphasizing the role of research in addressing contemporary challenges.

Junior Summer School: Health Promotion in the New Era
In Sofia, the Junior Summer School was organized as two separate Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) and was designed for undergraduate students from the universities of the INGENIUM Alliance.
The first programme, entitled “Emergency Medicine in a Changing World,” focused on the emerging challenges facing emergency medicine in an increasingly dynamic global environment.
The second, “AI and Labour Market Transformation,” explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping the labor market, professional skills, and social structures.

Active Participation of University of Crete Staff
Members of the University of Crete’s staff also participated in the activities of the Staff Academy in Sofia and in the alliance’s thematic working meetings. Participants had the opportunity to exchange best practices, discuss innovative approaches to teaching, university administration, and internationalization, and contribute to planning the next steps of the INGENIUM Alliance.
As part of the INGENIUM Staff Academy Workshop in Sofia, Stamatis Papadakis, Assistant Professor in the Department of Preschool Education, presented his pedagogical approach entitled “AI for All: Sustainable Creativity and No-Code App Design in Higher Education.” His presentation highlighted innovative practices for integrating artificial intelligence and no-code application design into higher education. The workshop was also attended by Marinos Anastasakis, Assistant Professor in the Department of Preschool Education and Coordinator of the Training of the Trainers (TotT) program .
In parallel, members of the University of Crete’s Strategic Planning Unit participated in the blended mobility program (BIP) “Education for Sustainable Development,” contributing to the exchange of expertise and the promotion of best practices related to sustainable development and strategic planning in higher education.
