A total of 85 members of the University of Crete’s academic community (professors, lecturers, and researchers) are included in Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists list, which highlights the world’s most distinguished scientists. Specifically, 42 members belong to the School of Sciences and Technology, 39 to the Medical School, 2 to the School of Social Sciences, 1 to the School of Education, and 1 to the School of Philosophy.

The Stanford’s Top 2% Scientists List is an annual global ranking of researchers based on bibliometric indicators in their respective fields. The ranking is determined by the c-score, which takes into account the total number of citations, the h-index, the Hm-index (adjusted for the number of co-authors on a publication), the number of citations from unique authors, and other bibliometric parameters to ensure the validity and broad acceptance of the results within the research community.

The Rectorate of the University of Crete warmly congratulates the members of the institution for this significant achievement. Their inclusion in this list of the world’s most recognized researchers is a clear indication of excellence and the international reputation that the University of Crete has earned in scientific research.
