Bridging Ancient Studies Between Greece and Asia: International Lectures and Workshops by KELKIP
The Center for Ancient Greek and Chinese Civilizations (KELKIP) has been strengthening the internationalization of ancient studies programs at Greek universities by building academic bridges with some of Asia’s leading centers of research since its establishment, and through the collaboration of its four partner institutions,
In this context, the following events were organized:
- A lecture by JaeWon Ahn (Seoul National University), titled “Latin Y-King: Focusing on Its Ciceronian and Other References.” The lecture was part of the Seminar on Ancient Philosophy organized by the Laboratory of Philosophical Research and Translation of the University of Crete Research Center (UCRC). More information and the seminar calendar are available at UCRC Seminar on Ancient Philosophy. The lecture was held at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in collaboration with the inter-institutional English-taught graduate program Athens MA in Ancient Philosophy.
- A lecture by Liu Wei (Renmin University of China), delivered as part of the Athens Colloquium in Ancient Philosophy, titled “Aristotle on Nemesis.”
- A hybrid workshop at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki titled “Aristotle’s Reception in East Asia” , exploring the reception of Aristotle’s philosophy in East Asia (China, Korea, and Japan) from the seventeenth century to the present. The speakers include leading scholars of the Aristotelian tradition from Chinese, Korean, and Japanese universities.
* The Center for Ancient Greek and Chinese Civilizations (Greek acronym KELKIP) is a nonprofit academic network formed by four Greek universities to promote comparative studies and cultural dialogue between the two ancient civilizations.
