Significant Distinction for Professor Maria Chatzinikolaidou, Department of Materials Science and Engineering
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the University of Crete extends its warmest congratulations to Professor Maria Chatzinikolaidou, who was recently elected to the Council of the European Society for Biomaterials (ESB).
The European Society for Biomaterials is Europe’s leading organization for the advancement of research and technology in biomaterials, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. It is also a member of the International Union of Societies of Biomaterials Science and Engineering (IUSBSE).
Professor Chatzinikolaidou’s election took place in September 2025, during the 34th ESB Annual Conference in Turin. This achievement is of particular significance, as it marks the first time a Greek researcher has been elected to the Society’s Council.
Her election represents an international recognition not only of Professor Chatzinikolaidou’s scientific contributions but also of the high-level research conducted in Greece, and especially at the University of Crete, the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), in the fields of biomaterials and regenerative medicine.
The University of Crete and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering warmly congratulate Professor Chatzinikolaidou and wish her every success in her new role.
