The international winter program “Crete and the Aegean: from Prehistory to the Early Byzantine Period” concluded successfully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. The program was offered through a collaboration between the University of Crete and the College Year in Athens (CYA) / DI.K.E.ME.S. (International Center for Hellenic and Mediterranean Studies), with Dr. Nikos Litinas (Department of Philology) serving as the lead instructor.
Participants included four students from U.S. universities and their accompanying professor, Dr. Dimitris Kritsotakis (CYA), along with four postgraduate students from the University of Crete’s MSc Program in Classical Studies (Department of Philology).
The program combined academic rigor with hands-on engagement, giving students the opportunity to explore the historical and cultural development of Crete and the Aegean world from prehistoric times through the Early Byzantine period.
