The Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Committee of the University of Crete (UoC) is organizing its 1st Equality Festival. The event will take place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The main venue will be Lecture Hall D3 at the Gallos University Campus in Rethymno.
The program features contributions from the Center for Psychological and Counseling Support, the Equal Access Unit, UoC cultural groups, and volunteers. Specifically, it includes:
- Welcome addresses by representatives of the academic community and the Region of Crete.
- Theatrical performances and artistic presentations focusing on gender-based violence.
- Talks and discussions on visibility, inclusion, disability, and social exclusion.
- Awards for the best master’s thesis and doctoral dissertation on gender inequality issues, as well as an award for the new Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Committee logo.
Parallel activities will take place in the courtyard and classrooms, including an experiential awareness workshop titled “Consent in Relationships: Communication, Boundaries & Responsibility” (Room A3.3), as well as an art painting workshop in the Main Atrium.
The event is co-funded by the European Union.
