The Department of Preschool Education at the University of Crete is organizing a hybrid scientific evening event titled “enLIGHTen – Light and Astronomical Phenomena in Our Solar System.” The event is held under the auspices of the University of Crete, implemented by the Laboratory of ICT in Education and Science Education (EPEDIFE), and funded by the Office of Astronomy for Education of the International Astronomical Union.

The event will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., in Lecture Hall G2 at the Gallos University Campus, as well as online. The program includes talks on optical phenomena on Earth and in the Solar System, the depiction of light in Impressionist art, and learning through art. In addition, the outcomes of the enLIGHTen project in education will be presented. The evening will conclude, weather permitting, with telescope-based sky observation at the Gallos University Campus, supported by the Friends of Astronomy Association of Crete.
