University
of Crete is pleased to announce a new collaboration agreement with CSR-Hellas,
the Greek Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility network. UoC, represented
by the Rector George Kontakis, Professor and CSR HELLAS by the President of the
Board of Directors and Vice President of CSR Europe, ms.Maria Alexiou, signed on 25 November 2022, at the Heraklion
University Campus a new agreement that expands the existing collaboration on
CSR School. Present were also the Vice Rector for Research and Development,
Michail Pavlidis, Professor, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Lifelong
Learning, International Relationships and Outlook, Georgios Kosioris,
Professor, Konstantinos Manasakis, Associate Professor and mr.Alexandros
Kostopoulos, Deputy Director of CSR HELLAS.
The
successful and novel initiative of CSR-Schools,4 years ago, led to the
extension of partnership, from 2022 to 2027, including a range of activities. Our
new strategic partnership focuses on research and education for promoting the
principles of sustainability to businesses in Crete and nationwide. This
collaboration will substantially contribute to the education of a new
generation of qualified interdisciplinary scientists that will work as
sustainability managers.
CSR-School is
an excellent example of cooperation between public and private sector, applying
innovative and international aspects. 144 people (Greece, Cyprus, France,
United Kingdom, Slovenia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Turkey, Singapore,
Egypt) were trained, while 58 prominent teachers and professionals from all
over the world, 20 educational institutions and 23 companies have participated.
For the past two years, CSR-School is organized under the auspices of the
Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Development and Investment.
Both organizations
are involved actively in projects on social responsibility and sustainability. CSR
HELLAS, member of the European CSR Europe Network, promotes the comprehensive
integration of the principles of sustainability and responsible
entrepreneurship into corporate strategy, governance and administration in
Greece, through initiatives and collective actions, specialized tools and
services, updates regarding national and
international developments in issues of Responsible Entrepreneurship.
University
of Crete is a member of SDSN Greece, the national network of
the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Solutions Network
(SDSN) which promotes practical problem solving for sustainable
development. UoC participates in international rankings that assess
universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with
significant position. It is an active participant in initiatives and partnerships
for fulling the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development Goals, at national (CSR Student
Competition “Nikos Analitis”) and regional level (support the Region in mapping
the level of SDG integration).
